Beginner
Tutorial for paschimottanasana, seated forward fold, which lengthens the backs of legs and releases and stretches the lower back as well. This is a great and simple pose to effectively develop flexibility throughout the lower body, stretch the nerves along the spine and heal lower back pain. Being one of the most universal postures, this fold has many benefits, such as better digestion, stimulation of organs in the belly, headache, fatigue, stress and depression relief, better sleep and so on. The pose activates parasympathetic nervous system, which has a soothing and calming effect on the overall mood and energetic level. This pose is very beneficial during detoxification and menstruation, as it encourages downward movement of energy and release of substance on the subtle level. Beware of Your legs when getting into the fold, especially, if You have any issues with the knees, hamstrings or lower back. Also not the best pose for people with asthma or diarrhea.
