A basic pose with many benefits. Janu sirsasana has a calming effect, aids depression, gives the body a nice all-around stretch for hamstrings, groins, arms and back, stimulates detox organs like liver and kidneys, thus improving digestion, as well as eases symptoms related to menstruation, menopause, anxiety, insomnia and fatigue. This is a good bend for pregnant women, as it gently tones the back muscles that are of essential support during this time. The asana is not advised in case of asthma, knee injury or diarrhea.
